There are several types of Special Hands you can declare in Canasta Junction, each with a different card combination and point value. The app will automatically validate your hand when you use the "Special" button. Here are the main types:
Pairs Hands
These hands are made up of seven different pairs and cannot include any 3s.
- Pairs (2500 points): Seven pairs of different ranks, with no wild cards. Example: 44 55 66 88 QQ KK AA.
- Wilds Pairs (2000 points): Six pairs of different ranks plus one pair of wild cards (either 2s or Jokers). This hand must include a pair of Aces and a pair of 7s. Example: 55 66 QQ KK 77 AA 22.
- Miami Pairs (2500 points): Five pairs of different ranks plus a pair of 2s and a pair of Jokers. This hand also must include a pair of Aces and a pair of 7s. Example: 88 1010 KK 77 AA 22 JoJo.
Combination Hands These hands are formed with specific sets of cards.
- Straight (3000 points): One card of every rank, from Ace to King, plus one 3 and one Joker (A 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 J Q K Jo).
- Garbage (3000 points): Two sets of four-of-a-kind and two sets of three-of-a-kind (4•4•3•3). This hand cannot contain any wild cards or 3s. Example: 4444 666 QQQQ AAA.
- ZIP Code (2500 points): One four-of-a-kind, two three-of-a-kinds, and two pairs (4•3•3•2•2). Unmixed wild card sets are optional.
High-Value Hands These are more difficult to achieve and offer very high scores.
- Triples (3500 points): Four sets of three-of-a-kind (no wilds) plus one unmixed pair of wild cards (2s or Jokers).
- Quads (3500 points): Three sets of four-of-a-kind (no wilds) plus one unmixed pair of wild cards (2s or Jokers) .
- Dream Hands (8500 points): These hands can win the game instantly. There are two types: Dream +4 (two five-of-a-kind sets and a four-of-a-kind of unmixed wilds) and Dream +5 (one five-of-a-kind, one four-of-a-kind, and a set of five mixed or unmixed wilds) .
