What is a "Talon" and how do I get one?

The "Talon" is a one-time bonus of extra cards awarded to your team immediately after one of you makes the initial meld. Canasta Junction handles this bonus automatically.

How it Works in the App:

• First Team to Meld: When you or your partner makes the initial meld for your team, the app will automatically deal four extra cards to the player who melded. This happens right after they discard to end their turn .

  Second Team to Meld: When the opposing team makes their initial meld, the player who melded for them will automatically receive three bonus cards.

When a Talon is NOT Awarded: The app knows the rules and will not award a Talon in two specific situations:

1. If a player makes their initial meld by "picking the pack" (using the top card of the discard pile), they do not receive a Talon.
2. No Talons are awarded after the "Turn Card" (the ninth card from the bottom of the deck) has been drawn, signaling that the deck is low.
